What does Genius difficulty mean?
Cross-reference 4-5 pages
A single code might require data from the home page, a history section, a member directory, and a product catalogue. You need to figure out which pages matter and how they connect — nothing tells you where to look.
Multi-step logic chains
Each code involves 3 to 5 sequential steps. You might need to sort entries by one criterion, extract a specific field, map it through a table on another page, and then read the result in a particular order. Miss one step and the answer looks like noise.
No highlighted clues
In easier rooms, clues are slightly emphasised — a different colour, a bold word, an unusual format. In Genius rooms, every piece of content looks normal. The clue might be a footnote, a column header, or the order items appear on the page.

Four credentials are hidden across history pages, room catalogues, and service listings. Each code requires sorting, reordering, or extracting first letters from data sets that span multiple pages.
A broadsheet newspaper website with a crossword, classifieds, reader letters, a masthead, and an archive. Four codes are encoded through wrong crossword answers, classified ad word counts, journalist press IDs, and an edition number hidden in a correction notice. Every page feeds into at least one puzzle.
A chess club website with member records, tournament archives, theory files, and a home page that sets the order for everything. Four codes involve mapping decisive squares through file tables, sorting members by Elo to decode draw positions, cross-referencing piece values, and identifying composers from study notes.
A music festival website with schedules, artist lineups, setlists, ticket tiers, and wristband data. Four codes require mapping stage numbers to names, indexing into setlists by stage position, summing all acts on a stage, and matching lighting colours to wristband capacities. The longest logic chains on the site.

What does Genius difficulty actually mean?
Genius rooms are estimated at IQ 130+ to solve without hints. That does not mean you need to take an IQ test — it means the puzzles require the kind of abstract reasoning, pattern recognition, and multi-step deduction that standardised tests measure at the 98th percentile. Most players use at least one hint.
Are Genius rooms free?
Genius rooms are premium. You can unlock them individually for a one-time payment starting at $2.99, or get access to all premium rooms with a Mastermind subscription. There is no recurring charge for individual unlocks — once you buy a room, it is yours permanently.
How are Genius rooms different from Hard rooms?
Hard rooms have 3-4 codes and each code involves 2-3 steps. Genius rooms have 4 codes where each one involves 3-5 steps that span 4-5 different pages. There are no visual indicators that something is a clue. You need to figure out which data matters, how to sort or combine it, and what the output format should be — all without guidance.
Can I solve these without hints?
Some players do, but most use at least one hint on their first Genius room. The hints unlock after 5 minutes and are progressive — they nudge you toward the right approach without giving away the answer. Your escaped page records whether you solved it hint-free.
