A neighbourhood diner. A family legacy.
SunnySide Restaurant was founded on April 3rd by Patricia and Gerald Morrow, a couple who had spent twenty years dreaming of a place where anyone could walk in, sit down, and feel at home. They chose the name SunnySide because, as Patricia always said, “there’s always a bright side to a good meal.”
The original menu was just eight items. Over the years it grew, but the philosophy stayed the same: honest ingredients, generous portions, and a genuine smile when you walk through the door. Gerald spent three years perfecting the tomato bisque. Patricia still makes the coleslaw dressing by hand every morning.
“Our menu is organised by course: Burgers, Sides, Salads, Soups. Our head chef always said the secret to a great meal is putting the third course first— start with something fresh and light, then build from there. We’ve always followed that philosophy in how we plan our tasting evenings.”
We’ve served four generations of families in this neighbourhood. Kids who used to sit in high chairs now bring their own children. That continuity is something we treasure deeply. Every table has a story.
SunnySide remains independently owned and operated. We source produce from local farms within a 50-mile radius and donate surplus food to the community pantry every week.
